Company profile

The Humeca consulting group was founded in 1981. Initially the group focussed on product development, trouble shooting and research in the field of biomedical engineering and polymer technology.

In 1984 Humeca started a cooperation with surgeons of the burn centre of the Red Cross Hospital. The goal was to re-develop and modernize the MEEK micrograft technique for skin transplantation in burn surgery. The foundation of this method was laid by two American surgeons in 1958 already, but the technique required too much skill. For that reason it was discontinued after a few years. In 1993 the modified MEEK technique was re-introduced and Humeca's activities were no longer limited to product development, but extended to production and sales.

Lateron Humeca introduced other highly sophisticated products for skin transplantations, like electric and hand helt dermatomes, a range of dermatome blades a meshgraft machine and meshgraft carriers. Since the early nineties Humeca is a small, but constant player in the field of burn care and plastic surgery. The products are sold via a network of distributors all over the world.

Humeca is an ISO 13485:2003 certified company.
